Chicago Public Schools’ strong outcomes have been in the news for the past several months,and a lot of attention has been given to the importance of school leadership. For years, The Chicago Public Education Fund (The Fund) has been partnering with Chicago Public Schools and others citywide to explore and develop data-driven work to support strong school leadership and ultimately improve student outcomes.
Nelson Gerew, Director of Data, Policy & Reports at The Fund will share some of The Fund’s work in data and analytics, including some recent work on school leadership and school outcomes. He will also provide an overview of The Fund’s data partnership with CPS, and review just how much CPS data, from test scores and demographics to personnel and finance,is publicly available and ready for anyone to analyze.
Nelson is the Director of Data, Policy & Reports for The Chicago Public Education Fund (The Fund), where he has worked for the past eight years. The Fund works to improves Chicago's public schools by investing in the talented, innovative leaders who run them, partnering with Chicago Public Schools, the City of Chicago, the local philanthropic community and school leaders.
